Fellowships

Indigenous Landkeepers Fellowships

Landkeepers Trust has established these fellowships to help grow the skills and leadership capacity of Indigenous people to work on, care for and celebrate country.  Tailor-made fellowships can be developed for promising applicants to undertake a wide variety of development activities. They can be designed according to individual needs and the particular opportunities that are available.

A maximum of $10,000 may be requested and there are no age limits for applicants.  A fellowship may be short and focussed (e.g. conference attendance) or involve a longer program of up to 1 year.

Applications must be made by an organisation on behalf of a recipient.  The organisation must be a registered entity capable of administering the funds, arranging the activities, and monitoring and supporting the recipient.  Co-sponsorship from the sponsoring organisation and other partners will be favoured.  Organisations that might sponsor applications could include Indigenous organisations, other community organisations, schools, regional NRM bodies, governments or universities.

In addition, the Trust will only consider funding proposals that demonstrate:

  • a mix of skills and cultural learning in the program

  • a strong focus on practical application to country

  • evidence that the fellowship holder has leadership potential and a commitment to caring for country.
